Conflict Management
For the Authentic Leader

"Conflict in the workplace can be extremely costly. Some estimate that American companies lose $359 BILLION a year due to the effects of conflicts because of diminished work performance, low employee morale, and loss of revenue" (Picincu, A, 2019).

Everyone has conflict

At times, simple conflict can be resolved with a quick conversation. More often, though, conflict can spiral into a chaotic, devastating experience for all involved.  Unresolved or poorly handled conflict can destroy personal and professional relationships as well as entire companies.

Conflict can result in

  • Wasted time

  • Employee/client turnover

  • Grievances, complaints, and lawsuits

  • Absenteeism

  • Mental, physical, and emotional health risks

  • Poor decision-making

  • Toxic work/home environment

By the end of this course, participants will have the opportunity to:

• Identify common reactions to conflict

• Examine personal reactions to conflict

• Practice de-escalation skills when engaging in difficult conversations

• Create space for psychological safety during difficult conversations

• Apply negotiation techniques

Conflict Management for the Authentic Leader provides experiential learning opportunities to develop basic skills for navigating conflict-infused conversations.

This ESI Workshop™ consists of a didactic session followed by simulations with professional actors. Then, after the workshop, learners can participate in weekly, 1-1 follow-up coaching sessions with a facilitator for additional support as they integrate their new conflict management skills into professional interactions.

Why simulation?

The tools for navigating conflict, in and of themselves, are easy to understand; the challenge lies in the execution of these tools, especially when triggered. Our simulations are designed to provide safe, calibrated encounters enabling participants to “try on” skills and gain experience in order to access effective tools when confronted with conflict in real-life situations.
